Source: Statistics Poland (GUS), quarterly information on entities in the REGON register, table 1, by voivodeship, as of 30 June 2026 (PKD 2007: J 62, J 63). Entities without an assigned voivodeship are not shown. Official statistics, not the number of records in our database.
In PKD, IT is above all division 62 – programming, consultancy and infrastructure management – and division 63, i.e. data processing, hosting and web portals.
Nowhere else do the statistics diverge so much from intuition. A great many programmers working on contract for a single client are registered under code 62.01.Z. Formally each of them is an IT company. In practice they do not buy licences, do not hire and do not look for projects.
Out of scope are telecom operators (division 61), computer shops (trade) and hardware repair services (division 95).
The REGON register lists 235,660 entities in this industry across Poland (GUS, as of 30 June 2026); the breakdown by voivodeship is in the table below. That is the size of the market, not the number of our records. Our own database (196,499 companies, as of 17 September 2026) is one of our sources and covers voivodeships unevenly, so the number of records for your selection is available on request – database status.
Classification
This is the industry where PKD 2025 changed the most. The former section J was split: publishing and media stayed under J, while telecommunications, programming and information services form a new section K. All class numbers in division 62 also changed. Watch out for code 63.91: in PKD 2007 it meant news agencies, in PKD 2025 web search portals.
Left code: PKD 2007, right: PKD 2025. Source: GUS, Polish Classification of Activities PKD 2025. The codes describe the scope of the industry – they are not a promise of a filter: today’s records mostly carry the source category, and a PKD code only where one is available. Whether you can select by a specific code is confirmed before you order. More: PKD 2025 and company lists.
The PKD code does not settle it, but a few features get you close. A company selling services to many clients usually has a website, a company phone number and an office address. A contract programmer usually gives only a home address. The “record with a website” filter removes most one-person contractors.
The second filter is legal form. A limited company or limited partnership in division 62 is most likely a team rather than one person – although companies set up for a single contract exist here too.
According to GUS figures, IT companies are more concentrated than other industries in the Mazowieckie, Lesser Poland and Lower Silesian voivodeships – their share of the industry there is higher than those voivodeships’ share of all entities (see the table by voivodeship below). A selection by county or city with county rights narrows the list to a particular hub, such as Warsaw, Kraków or Wrocław.
We run a recruitment agency. We are looking for companies in PKD division 62 based in Warsaw, with a website – no sole traders. We need the office address. Please send the number of records and the price of the export.
This is a model enquiry, not a completed order. If you give us PKD codes, we will tell you how far they can be applied to our data – today the records mostly carry the source category.
A list of employers in the industry in a given city; the data concerns companies, not candidates.
Partner programmes for integrators and software houses that resell infrastructure to their clients.
Services for technology companies: accounting, intellectual property protection, liability insurance.
IT companies are frequent tenants of flexible offices in city centres.

No. Technologies are not in any public register. If the source contains a business description, it can be searched for keywords, but the result is incomplete.
Subclass 62.20.A appeared only in PKD 2025 and is held only by companies that have updated their entry or were set up from 1 January 2025. In PKD 2007 this activity fell under general IT consultancy.
Commercial information may be sent by email or phone only with the recipient’s prior consent (Article 398 of the Polish Electronic Communications Law; the provision does not distinguish between consumers and businesses) – the export does not include such consent.
