The code says what a company makes, not how
Technology suppliers usually ask about the process: who has injection-moulding machines, who welds, who does powder coating. PKD, however, describes the product. A maker of sheet-metal enclosures lands in division 25, a maker of plastic enclosures in 22 and a maker of complete control cabinets in 27 – even though all three may buy the same laser.
The second trap is the address. A manufacturing company may be registered at an office in Warsaw while its plant stands a hundred kilometres away. The export contains the address given in the source; where the source gives the plant address, that is the one we keep.
The third trap: divisions 25 and 33 include many one-person metalworking and repair shops. If your offer concerns production lines, it is worth limiting the selection to companies with legal personality.
Sample enquiry
We supply compressed air and compressor servicing. We are interested in plants in PKD divisions 22, 25 and 28 within about 80 km of Warsaw, companies only. Please send the number of records broken down by division and the price of an export with address and website.
This is a model enquiry, not a completed order. If you give us PKD codes, we will tell you how far they can be applied to our data – today the records mostly carry the source category.
What the export does not include
- machinery and the technologies used
- quality certificates (ISO, IATF)
- headcount and revenue
- addresses of all plants where a company has several
- names of production, maintenance or purchasing managers
